Flex Funds
UDSS Funds – Unusually Difficult to Serve Situations
Flex funds are intended to purchase services that are outside the resources of publicly funded services.
Before flex funds are provided to support a child/youth, a plan should be in place that links expected outcomes for the child/youth and family to the use of flex funds. The plan should include a strategy for weaning the client off flex funds. Flex funds are not to be used to purchase services that are already provided within the range of publicly-funded services for children, youth and families. Rather, it is expected that agencies will, at the request of Coordinated Access, work to open access to accommodate the needs of the family so that the plan can be implemented (e.g. rent arrears coverage to prevent a family from losing their housing).
